ANCIENT EGYPT BY:Leah, Eimear, Aoife,Lauren

Tutankhamen Tutankhamen was a Pharaoh. He became Pharaoh at the age of 8/9. He died when he was 18/19. Tutankhamen's tomb was lying there for 3,300 years Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamen's tomb.

Gift of the Nile The River Nile flows through Egypt. It floods every year and brings with it rich black mud. When the water goes down farmers plant seeds in the mud this helps them grow. The Nile was essential to life in Egypt.

Hieroglyphics The ancient Egyptians wrote in hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics was picture writing. There are 700 different signs altogether. They wrote on papyrus and on walls. Hieroglyphics is similar to Greek.

HOMES Egyptians made their homes from mud and straw. Rich people lived in villas. Villas have rooms. Some homes were made of stone but not many. Doors are raised off the ground to keep out dust.
