CI 317 Literacy Strategies in the Content Areas January 29, 2014 Before class begins/as you arrive … Please sit in your assigned seat one last time while I match faces to names. Thank you. 1.Draw a card with a number on it. Save it for later. 2.If you have a computer with you, check your WSU for an invitation to Wikispaces from me. 3.Join our CI 317 Wikispaces site. (You can also do this later.)

Today’s Agenda 1.Discuss CI 318 Placement. 2.Discuss CI 318 Online ReflectionsCI 318 Online Reflections 3.CI 317 Wikispaces tutorialCI 317 Wikispaces 4.Assign Literacy Strategies Chat – dates, topicsAssign Literacy Strategies Chat 5.Break 6.Reading ResponseReading Response 7.Submit RRA #1 8.Homework and RemindersHomework and Reminders

LSC Sign-Up/Topics Here’s how this will work: 1.Look at the number on your card. This will determine when you can select your presentation date and topic (posted on our wiki).wiki 2.When I call your number, bring your card to me and select your presentation date. a.The earlier the date you select, the earlier you can select your literacy strategy. (i.e., People who select Feb. 12 get first dibs on literacy strategies.). b.Keep in mind there are lots of strategies beyond the 50 in our class text. Seek them out, and then get them approved by me. 4.Once you have selected your date and literacy strategy, you may take a break.

We’ll have 5-10 minutes for our breaks—watch the timer. Please return from your break on time, as your promptness will affect your participation grade (and returning late will count as a tardy, just as it does when you arrive late to the start of class). Break Time Agenda

HomeworkHomework/Reminders HomeworkHomework/Reminders *****Submit RRA #1 before you leave. Thank you!***** CI 317  Fisher & Frey: Ch. 2 (pp )  Fisher, Brozo, Frey, & Ivey: Anticipation Guides (p. 7), Interest Surveys, etc. (p. 43), KWL (p. 50), Opinionnaire (p. 64)  RRA #2  Join our class wiki. Practice posting on the test page. CI 318  Contact CT to determine the classes you will visit each week ( ~ 3 hours per week).  If applicable, attend orientation at placement school.  Begin placement week of Feb. 3. Be sure your TB Test is up to date.TB Test  Your TB Test must be current before you begin your placement.  If you start your field placement late due to non-updated TB test, you will have to make up those hours.
