Real strategy for students who may not succeed in any health profession:  High school students who are struggling in science courses, but who want a profession that will contribute to an individual’s well being should consider Human Services.  Human Services will allow students to move into a career of social work, counseling, teaching, consulting and human services management. Exercise  Scenario 1: High school student has failed numerous science courses and the parents are pushing for the student to enter a health profession. How and what could you say to explain options to the student and parents?  Scenario 2: High school student is average in science courses, but will probably not make it into a restricted major such as Nursing or Radiology. How would you show and explain to the student other health career professions?  Scenario 3: High school student has all pre-requisites for a restricted program. Transfer Pathways: Options  Liberal arts may prepare the student better for transferring from an associate program to a bachelor’s program.  Options for some students to transfer may be in Human Services or Health Studies. OpInform 2015

Work with Admissions Counselors to create a transfer plan  Seamless transfer requires advance planning.  Encourage students to reach out to colleges and universities for assistance.  Admissions counselors will work with high school counselors and potential students to guide them through a seamless transfer process.
