SMART Highlights Based upon federal Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services (WITS) public domain software designed in 2002 Deployed in 17 states and counties Enhanced using cost and code sharing strategies through a national collaborative of member jurisdictions (WCP) Customized in MD and nationally through IGSR & FEI Developed as an integrated consent-driven electronic health record Designed to share assessment, treatment, case management, criminal justice, and drug court data statewide

SMART Benefits for MD State Agencies Statewide collaboration in real-time while meeting federal and state confidentiality regulations Interagency data repository for performance reporting within and between agencies Real-time data exchange with existing data systems Client- and event-driven records support agency daily operations and decision making Cross-agency data can be warehoused for secondary analysis and research Enhancements can be shared at no additional development cost to MD
