My Story What I Already Knew Questions Story of my Search Search Results Growth Works Cited

The Story Behind My Topic My Dad Found out he had Chiari in 2008 Had surgery to remove extra fluid off his brain in January 2010 Kennedy Found out she had Chiari in late 2010 Hasn’t had surgery, but may have to in the future Has seizures and other epileptic symptoms

What I Already Knew Chiari puts pressure on the brain There are at least two types It’s a genetic disorder Symptoms include weakness and headaches Chiari patients sometimes end up getting surgery to remove fluid on the brain

Inquiry Questions How many people have Chiari 1 and 2? What are the fatalities of Chiari? Which medicines treat Chiari? When was Chiari found? What are the differences between Chiari 1 and 2?

The Story of My Search DateResearch Results And Findings Thoughts on My Process 3/6/12I found a few articles on Power Library and Britannica. I looked on conquerChiari.org The articles weren’t very informational or helpful. 3/7/12I filled more than 3 notecards using conquerChiari.org My topic is more interesting than I thought it would be. 3/8/12I used conquerChiari.org and Britannica for articles. I’m not getting very many articles. 3/13/12I couldn’t find any books on my topic. Libraries aren’t always helpful! 3/15/12I started my PowerPoint presentation I tried Prezi and realized it an be a pain. 3/19/12I tried using Glogster and StoryJumper instead of PowerPoint. Technology isn’t always reliable. 3/21/12Found 5 sourcesThank God for easybib.com!

My Search Results Symptoms Causes Treatment Surgery Diagnostics Types

My Growth as a Researcher I learned…. that I prefer using the computer to find information instead of books. I like this topic so much more than Vietnam. I’m not the greatest at double tasking. I shouldn’t procrastinate. There are a lot more resources available than I thought. My topic is interesting and helpful for me to know
