BASIC MATH SKILLS LESSON 3: RENAMING FRACTIONS IN SIMPLEST FORM P. 59

DEFINITIONS Simplest form – a fraction in which the numerator and denominator have no common factor greater than one Simplify – to express in simplest form

RENAMING FRACTIONS IN SIMPLEST FORM When you are doing problems with fractions, you will often need to rename the answer in lowest terms. This is called simplest form. To simplify a fraction, divide the numerator and the denominator by the largest number that divides into both evenly.
