Presentation transcript:

A natural disaster is a sudden event that causes common destruction, lots of damage and loss of life, brought about by forces other than the acts of human beings. After a major disaster, communities and families turn to the Red Cross for help which is a charity that helps when there is a major disaster or just a disaster, they can call for help on one of the other charity help lines, but the “Red Cross” is a well known charity. The Red Cross stand by ready to provide comfort and care free of charge. When there is a major disaster people can get evacuated depending on if the disaster is really corrupt or is alright. The people will not have to get evacuated if it was a little disaster, but will have to get evacuated if it is major for example a flood which has flooded the whole town, village, or where ever you are. An earthquake which people might have got hurt or injured, a tsunami which wrecked the whole town and killed most of the people etc. Major disasters are earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, volcanic eruption, landslide, hurricane, and loads, loads more. Food and drink is brought to the ones who need it. Mostly shops are closed after a major disaster or normally they is a van selling hot food. Sometimes clothes could be needed but this could be decided on what kind of major disaster it is and also depends on if the people clothes in the houses are wrecked. Water could be needed if the electricity has been turned off or the power has been turned off. You may have to be rescued and go to a shelter until your home is fixed or they may be a new one built for you depending on the major disaster that it has caused.

Do you know what the “Red Cross” is? Well, the Red Cross is a volunteer-led caring organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. The Red Cross helps when there is a major disaster and also helps after a major disaster. They also help with other disasters as well. Here are a few examples of what they help with. They help with First Aid, Emergency Response, They prepare for major disasters, They help find missing family, They protect people in conflict, They help with health and social care, They help with teaching resources and finally they help with refuge support. The Red cross helps to re-establish contact between families separated by armed conflict, disaster or migration by using the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network. Whether in the UK or overseas, the Red Cross respond to hundreds of disasters every year. From floods and fires to terrorist attacks, the Red Cross are among the first to arrive, and they stay long after the crisis is over to help make sure that everybody is alright and is not hurt, injured or has an infection or a disease because the “Red Cross” take care of it immediately.

The way in which charities help after major disasters is they help the people who have nothing left which has been taken away from them. Charities also do fundraisers which is a quick and easy idea to do because lots of people come to fundraisers and the charity then can earn a bit of money to help the people who have lost their homes, family, friends, money which is very important because they can not buy food, drink, clothes or any other essentials or anything else that they need. Every time they will need something they will have to ask the shelter to help them buy it. They are also other ways which you can raise money is do car washes and do people odd jobs like wash people’s pets, wash their cars, clean their windows etc. They are loads of ways which you can earn money for the people who have lost everything. If you help them and raise money for them then this will put their life back on track.

When they is a major disaster charities help the people by people getting them evacuated. The charities get the people evacuated so that they are safe and not injured. Some people get evacuated because their homes have been destroyed and their houses needs to rebuilt or needs to be fixed because it might have been flooded. Charities help the people who have nothing left. They take them to shelters to keep them safe whilst a new home is built for them. New clothes are provided for them to keep them warm and food and drink is given to them to make sure they have eaten and do not dehydrate of dehydration. These are the most important things.
