How we started…what we have achieved?/  A few electronic publications (PDF – IBM main frame)  Moderate web presentation  Approach “waiting for a user” 2004  The first press conference (September 2004) – 2002 Census results  New version of web presentation – extraordinary increase in number of visits, enriched contents and improved services  User’s approach – changed users’ structure, increased number of requests and more complex contents of requests, all known dissemination channels were applied

How we started…what we have achieved?/  Recognizable image of the office – significant data producer; statistical data are a public good  User’s approach – standardization of requests processing (procedures, style, output design)  Training for contacts with media; more intensified media contacts  Web- since March new contents (dissemination databases) new services (wap)  Marketing and PR (creating of the campaign for new surveys) – applied and tested in some mass surveys (HBS, LFS, LSMS)

International projects 2004 Swedish statistics (Sida project) – concept “library, as the prime source of information” ; media training 2005 Italian statistics (CARDS project) – use of press and communication activities with the aim of reediming confidence on data 2006 Estonian statistics (WBC project) – written document on dissemination policy; rounding off the previous experiences

Dissemination policy… further steps?/1  Organizational changes – somewhat greater centralization, dissemination unit as coordinator  Standardization – procedures, handbooks (publications, web), calendar of data publishing, UN standards, Code of European Practice  Human resources – new profiles, new skills, multidisciplinary team work

Dissemination policy … further steps?/2  Software – acquisition of appropriate web packages (CMS, CRM, PX - Web from PC Axis software family), GIS for mapping (Arc View), etc.  Training (increasing the level of statistical literacy) – courses, practice, media cooperation, final improving and filling in the existing gaps, projects  Moving from the user-oriented to customer-oriented approach
