Welcome! Mrs. Labuhn 6 th Grade Science

She started her teaching career in Michigan before working for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) overseas. She taught for DoDDS twenty years and lived in three countries before moving back to the United States. Ms. Labuhn's experiences include kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as, combination classes in isolated locations. During her tenure, she taught reading, ESL, English, and science in middle school grades. Subjects taught: K-8

Homework Policy Homework is not assigned daily in science. Students will need to study for quizzes and tests. If homework is assigned, it is a review of materials covered in class from unfinished class work. All class assignments are posted on web site calendar.

Assignments Students should have had their “Safety Contract” signed. Safety project should have been completed and displayed. “I am a Scientist” picture completed and displayed. Measurement Unit in progress.

Student Expectations Students are to arrive for class on time and to be prepared for class. Being prepared for class means students are to have their science binder, pencil, paper, agenda and be ready to learn. Students are expected to come to class with their completed homework if assigned. Completing homework will increase understanding of the unit being taught. Parents, please check your child’s agenda as well as my website, for homework assignments, quizzes and tests. Please feel free to call or me with any concerns. It is extremely helpful to have a current contact address to keep parents informed.

Frequently Asked Questions Can Jonny/Jill retake the test? Retakes are based on student performance in class and formative assessments. (i.e.. If a student earned a “C” on a formative assessment and a “C” on their summative assessment, then your child is performing at their level of understanding, thus a retake would not be necessary.) When can you help Jonny/Jill? Teacher help is given during resource or you can contact the teacher. How will I know when to expect tests? Students and parents can check my web site for dates and they should also be written in student’s agenda. How can I help my child at home? Ask about what your child is doing in class and encourage your child to be engaged in their learning.
