Compare and Contrast Buddhism to Christianity By: Devon McGarvey

Buddhism Wont harm living things Believe cows are sacred Follow Buddha Believe in reincarnation Buddhism was founded by Buddha on his journey to find the answer to questions he had after he left his temple. On his adventure he wasn’t trying to create a new religion at the beginning. People started to listen to what his sayings and believed in them. The people then began to follow him and a religion started.

Christianity Believe in God Believe Jesus died for our sins Believe the readings of the Bible Go to church to worship God and Jesus God created our world we live on and everything that lives on it. To prove he exists he sent his one and only son to earth to spread the word of god. Jesus later then died on the cross for our sins and was buried. Then he raised again on Easter. People followed Jesus and listened to what he had to say people that listened wrote stories and created the bible.

Differences Between the Two Buddhism believe that there is nirvana Buddhism believe that reincarnation is the path to nirvana Christianity believe in Heaven Christianity believe that if you follow the 10 commandments you will get to Heaven Buddhism and Christianity have many differences between the two. Buddhism was found by a man who just left his palace and say a man suffering. He had questions about life and set out on a journey to find the answers to them. Christianity was found when God sent his one and only son Jesus to the Earth to tell the people of Earth of the word of his father God and how he created all living things on the Earth.

Common Things Between the Two Both believe in a place after death Both worship a main figure Both believe in the right doing Both learn about their religion at a early age Buddhism and Christianity both believe in doing the right thing to reach the place after death. Both the followers of the religion worship a main figure in their religion. Most people in both of the religions learn about them in a early age so they can worship the religion throughout their life. They both have a book that helps guide them through the right doings in their life to help them reach the place after death.
