The seven item Swedish version of the ACHC Scale may be a valuable addition to what is currantly used in health care services, with the aim to improve quality of life in people with multiple sclerosis. Introduction Acceptance is a coping strategy reported to be associated with higher quality of life in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). The Acceptance of Chronic Health Conditions (ACHC) Scale is a self rating scale of ten items and five categories, developed to measure acceptance of chronic health conditions such as MS. Methods The translation process, including cross-cultural adaptation and assessment of usefulness, followed recommended guidelines, see figure. Rasch analysis was used to analyze psychometric properties using data collected in a cohort of people with MS. Results The Swedish version of the ACHC Scale was considered to be a satisfying equivalent to the original version. The ACHC Scale was found to represent aspects important to well-being in people with MS and to be useful in a Swedish context.
