BTEC Level 3 in Sport Coursework based course How is the course assessed? Interviews, debates, posters, presentations, experiments, client consultations, essay’s, Laboratory reports, lesson plans, video’s, exams, diaries, blogs, observations, scrap books, photo’s, role play, promotional material.
Expectations of our class! Turn up on time and be prepared to work. All work must be to the best of your ability, at least ‘Merit’ standard. Homework and assignments to be handed in on time. Set an example to younger pupils. Take on coaching sessions and help with major sporting events throughout the year.

LEARNING AIMS To know the structure and function of the skeletal system. To be able to DESCRIBE the structure and function of the skeletal system.
STARTER 1. With the person next to you think of a range of sporting movements, for example Basketball shooting, kicking a ball in football or rugby. 2. IDENTIFY the bones and muscles involved in these movements. 3. DISCUSS your findings to examine a wide range of sporting movements as a whole class.
The structure of the Skeletal System The Skeletal System is made up of bones, cartilage and joints. Your skeletal system provides a framework that supports your muscles and skin and protects your internal organs. It is made up of 206 Bones which are divided into two groups; 80=Axial Skeleton 126= Appendicular skeleton.
Research Task Using the pictures and information what forms the Axial Skeleton and the Appendicular Skeleton. Name the bones that are part of each skeleton group. Can you specifically identify where they are in the body? What are the major types of bones, give an example of each. Are they axial or appendicular?
