Second to None ALTERNATIVE FUELS Jan 06 – Jan 07 Biodiesel (B20) Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Ethanol (Future E85 Project) B-52 Synthetic Jet Fuel Testing

Second to None Biodiesel (B20) 2/10,000 and 1/15,000 gallon issue tanks 180,061 gallons issued during 12,369 vehicle refuels 187 emergency/tactical vehicles, organizational tanks, generators & equipment assets are not issued Biodiesel due to shelf-life

Second to None Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel 1/10,000 gallon issue tank 15,532 gallons issued to 151 organizational tanks, emergency/tactical vehicles, generators & equipment assets Once commercial industry resolves shelf-life issues the AF will issue Biodiesel to 100% of base assets

Second to None Compressed Natural Gas 3/500 gallon issue tanks 38 dual fuel use vehicles assigned to base 956 gallons issued during 262 fills Cost effective analysis being conducted for continued use of CNG at Barksdale

Second to None Ethanol (E85) No current infrastructure at Barksdale 65, E85 capable (Flex fuel) vehicles are currently assigned to Barksdale AFB with more projected in future buys DESC project budgeted for FY07 to renovate our military service station and install an E85 tank with dispensing pumps

Second to None B-52 Synthetic Fuel Test B-52 successfully tested all 8 engines on a synthetic fuel and JP-8 blend Next test will include cold-weather starting Potentially one step closer to allowing a domestic source of synthetic fuel to accomplish the Air Force mission in the future
