The UCAS Process Applications for all Nursing, Midwifery or Operating Department Practice Courses offered by Universities in the United Kingdom are normally submitted online at UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) at The deadline for on time applications is 15 th January Late applications may not be processed. The Grade Awarded Qualifications Pending (i.e. GCSEs, A-Levels, Access etc) The Date the Qualification is due to be completed.

Reference The final section of the application asks for a reference to be provided. Suitable referees include: Current or Previous Employer Current or Previous Educational Institution Current or Previous Voluntary Work Friends, Family Members or Neighbours are not acceptable.

Applications Dos and Donts Dos Give a complete record of your past academic and/or employment history. Provide an appropriate referee, whom must be able to comment on your work and/or academic capacity [attendance, commitment and general health and so on] Take your time composing your personal statement which should summarise your understanding of the role and information relevant to the course you are applying for including personal attributes. Declare any disabilities.

Typical Interview If your application is successful at shortlisting, then you will be invited to attend an Interview Day. This day will vary according to the course but may include: Course Presentation Tour of School Group Problem Solving Activity Individual Interview Individual Interviews will consist of a member of academic staff from the course you have applied as well as a member of clinical staff from a local NHS Trust.

Dispelling the Myths True That places are only offered after a successful interview. That you will be required to complete a satisfactory Police and Health Check if offered a place. That applications will not be processed unless evidence of recent academic study completed within the last 5 years is indicated in your application. That applications will not be processed unless you have met or are likely to meet the minimum academic entry requirements. That as a student you will complete clinical placements which involves travel across the whole region.
