National Context Government Steer Public funding should be focussed on providing targeted support for young people at greatest risk of poor performance A greater share of publicly funded activities should be delivered through voluntary, community and independent sector providers Local people and organisations should be more involved in shaping and delivering services to meet local needs More importance should be placed on early intervention to stop more serious problems developing for young people

New Youth Offer Key Principles Improved and fairer access to activities for young people Improved provision of youth activities at times and in locations to suit the needs of young people Better and more efficient use of resources Continued development of the Multi-Agency Teams integrated working approach More involvement of young people and their families More resources targeted towards early intervention

New Youth Offer Why no change is not an option Of the £30m savings target CAYA has to find over 4 years £7.8m has to be found next year. This is non negotiable

New Youth Offer Service Proposals The Multi-Agency Teams areas would include partnerships with voluntary sector providers as well as district and borough councils, health, police and fire services. To retain qualified full time youth workers within the Multi- Agency Teams to focus on targeted work with vulnerable young people and their families Front-line youth activities would be provided by the voluntary, community and independent sectors and direct front-line service provision by the council would be significantly reduced.

New Youth Offer Service Proposals A Youth Activities Grants scheme would be established to support service providers running specific projects or initiatives. A review of the Service’s existing youth centres would be undertaken as part of the ‘Space Derbyshire’ project to find out whether transfer to other providers or disposal is the best option. The consultation process would include details of other buildings in an locality that may be suitable and available to run activities for young people from.
