How is the Trust doing We have implemented the NSF with: Local teams for Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Assertive Outreach Across the County A county team for Early Intervention in Psychosis Leading on some aspects of Dementia

How is the Trust doing We have launched the “First Steps” service to provide help for people with common mental health problems; Mild depression, anxiety 108 referrals Copeland Referrals in December This includes IAPT (improving access to psychological therapies) where we are leading in the North West.

How is the Trust doing We are working with NHS Cumbria to implement the Dementia Strategy Locally; We provide Care Home Education & Support Services in Copeland (ahead of the rest of the county) We are working to involve local people by offering membership of our Trust – hundreds of local people in Copeland have taken us up on this offer.

Quality of Services Our scores for quality dipped in 2008/9 but are well on the way for 2009/10; We passed all 44 core standards We passed 6 of 11 national priorities with maximum points We scored less than maximum in 5 national priority areas; We will meet these 5 areas in full in March

Delayed Transfers of Care Improvements in performance in this area have been implemented and the Trust has now achieved improved performance for 5 consecutive quarters. Completeness of the Mental Health Minimum Data Set The Trust has introduced a data quality improvement team from April 2009 and performance in this area has improved. The team are on track to meet improvement targets by March Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services The Trust has reviewed its performance in this area and detailed plans are in place to address the areas raised. Best practice in mental health services for people with a learning disability (Green Light Toolkit) The Trust has reviewed its performance in this area and detailed plans are in place to address the areas raised. NHS staff satisfactionThe Trust has, in partnership with staff Governors, increased support available to staff in their work over the last 9 months through the workwell:) programme.

Inpatient Services All intensive care is now provided in Cumbria. We have 6 inpatient facilities in the County In Copeland – we have 1 ward for people with functional mental health problems

Inpatient Services People from Copeland use our services in Whitehaven, Barrow, Carlisle and Workington. The redevelopment at West Cumberland Hospital will finalise plans to modernise our services. We have 15,000 people receiving care, approx 150 of these are inpatient – 1%.

Keeping in Touch We invite members to help us monitor our services We produce a magazine for all our members We meet members regularly at special members meetings We try to keep people informed as much as we can
