SMART Objectives and Outcomes Specific, relating to the course Measurable, are you able to assess or measure achievement Achievable, are they possible Reliable, relevant and relating to the course aims Time bound, set target dates within the course
Objectives Ensure the Objective contains an active verb to provide a measurable activity. Ensure the Objective contains an object that relates to the active verb. The object measures the success of the verb and therefore the Objective A context to the Objective helps keep a focus and makes it realistic to the learner. If an Objective is realistic then it becomes achievable
AIMS Describe the overall purpose of a complete learning sequence. They are usually – Long term – Difficult to evaluate – Expressed in rather general terms
OBJECTIVES These are statements of what you are going to teach, although expressed as if the students were going to learn it.
OUTCOMES Learning Outcomes These are statements, not only of what you are going to teach, but what you will be assessing the learners as able to do.
