Lotus Connections Enables Better Student Education at a Large Metropolitan School District

Customer Information Large Urban School District schools 90,000 Teachers, Principals and Administrators 1,000,000+ students

Customer Challenges Need one, easy to view location and provide principals and teachers innovative ways of working together to give the highest quality education and support to all students Need tools to give educators and parents clear insight into critical student performance information Need to improve instruction and increase student achievement Need to speed the location of key expertise across the schools to address specific student challenges

Participants Solution: Leverage Lotus Connections services within a Portal application for Educators and Parents Provides educators and parents access to exam results and will be designed to help teachers identify and share effective practices and skillsets Example Use Case A teacher trying to help a student struggling with geometry The teacher can search for best practices on geometry instruction and get contact information for teachers across the school system identified as having strong skills in that area The teacher could see important content from those expert teachers and collaborate with them to learn how to address their student’s issues most effectively

Business Value Improve access and visibility of best practices, methods and content for teachers Reduce the time and effort to find critical expertise across a school or the broader education system Reduce the time for new teachers and administrators to become productive and connected with their peers Increase the interaction and collaboration across teachers, principals, and administrators Provide the foundation platform for future expansion to online connection with parents and students
