New AIG Standards In response to the 2008 performance audit from the Office of the State Auditor, the NC AIG Program Standards were developed by a statewide committee and approved by the State Board of Education in July The state performance audit recommended that LEAs be held more accountable and be more transparent with their local programs.

New AIG Standards 6 Standards with 51 Practices Student Identification Differentiated Curriculum and Instruction Personnel and Professional Development Comprehensive Programming Within a Total School Community Partnerships Program Accountability

In response to the audit, all LEAs submitted their local AIG plans to DPI, after local board approval. In the local AIG plan, every standard and practice had to be addressed and categorized as maintained (already in place), focused (in place by 2013) or future (in place by 2016). New AIG Plan
