What is Aesop Aesop is an on-line system that records absences for teachers AND requests substitutes for teachers. *There is a phone number for those that are not comfortable with technology. **Those teachers not needing a substitute still record their absences in Aesop. ***Timesheets will still be utilized for everyone, for the first 2 pay cycles to ensure Aesop is running appropriately!

Teachers and Aesop Teachers drive the Aesop system. Without an absence created by a teacher then there’s nothing for Aesop to do. Once a teacher creates an absence, the system goes to work. Depending on the absence, the system has different actions. Teachers can set up a preference list and are encouraged to do so.

FAQ for Managing Absences 1.Teachers can cancel an absence if a sub has not been assigned. If a sub has been assigned the teacher must call the Substitute Coordinator, Brenda Dockter at Personal Business requires approval from Principal. Once you’ve requested the absence for a personal business day your place is held, but it does require principal approval to assign a substitute. More -
FAQ for Managing Absences (continued) 3.If a day is full for personal business days, then the system will not allow a teacher to record that absence. The teacher must contact Heather Spurzem in HR to get on the waiting list. This is first come, first served so Heather right away to hold your place on the waiting list. When ing Heather include the following information: i.Date (full/half) ii.Waiting list for full PB day iii.Will you take the day without pay if the day does not open up? Yes or No More
FAQ for Managing Absences (continued) 4.Days without pay can be requested through Aesop. If you received a “full/denial” message when requesting a personal business day you can request a day without pay. These require principal and HR approval. 5.Other days without pay can be requested if you are out of personal business days, however, these are only for extreme, extenuating circumstances and require Principal and HR approval. Excluding Substitutes The system has the ability to allow substitutes to be excluded from certain lists. We have set this capability up at the school level. If you have a concern with a substitute please bring that to the Principal’s attention. The Principal will contact HR to discuss in more detail.
