(And yes…. The changes, additions, and confusion ) A Recent History of Dover Area School District’s Curriculum Based Assessments

Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) Brought to DASD roughly 5+ years ago. Used for universal screening of academic concerns (Reading only) Intended to be used 3x/year to quickly screen all students Eventually all students K-6 were being screened in Reading (intended to be a quicker screening than the DRA). Replaced after only a few years with AIMSweb

AIMSweb Was full implemented for the school year. Replaced DIBELS but screened in a similar way for Reading, yet, added the MAZE component. Allowed for benchmarking to occur in Math. Teachers now had the data immediately at their fingertips by going to AIMSweb.com Assisted in discussions at Building and Grade Level Team Meetings. Used in parent conferences as a graphical representation of their child’s performance. CONCERN: Not diagnostic…. Provided somewhat limited information …. Only really an indicator.

STAR Product of Renaissance Learning Will effectively replace AIMSweb for Universal Screening (however elements of AIMSweb will remain) Various components: STAR Early Literacy, STAR Reading, STAR Math (STAR Enterprise coming soon)

Response to Instruction and Intervention Plan….The Beginning RtII Committee was formed and completed LIU training with support from school psychologists RtII committee met on a regular basis to review district data and discuss Intervention Specialist (IST) worked with building staff to develop building intervention plan

Response to Instruction and Intervention… Roll out the Plan and Follow it! – Each building Principal and Interventionist will roll out the updated district plan in multiple settings – Training provided for instructors of specific interventions – Intervention Specialist and teachers will refer to plan during POD and Collaborative Meetings – RtII Committee will continue to meet and update plan as needed

What’s Next: Continue to inform parents of universal screening results, progress monitoring, and intervention plan Fidelity in Tier III Assessments Parent notification of support offered Communication – Wiki and E-Chalk
