The Attack of Pearl Harbor Videos, Pictures and Information found by; Loraine Foster

Before the Attack. Pearl Harbor was the united states main pacific navel base. The force: Japan sent 6 air craft carriers, 360 airplanes, an assortment of battleships and cruisers, and a number of submarines.

The Aftermath. The devastating aftermath: Nearly 2,500 people killed. Eight battleships severely damaged. Three destroyers left unusable. Three light cruisers damaged. 160 aircraft destroyed and 128 damaged. The U.S battle fleet was knocked out of commission of nearly six months, allowing the Japanese to freely access the needed raw materials of their newly conquered territories.

The USS Arizona. The Arizona Suffered irreparable damage. Nearly 1,200 sailors and marines died on this ship. Most of the people who died on this ship are still on it. From a corpsman aboard the USS Solace said “I saw a dive bomber coming over the Arizona. And I saw that bomb go down what looked like a stack and almost instantly it cracked the bottom on the Arizona blowing the whole bow loose.” The Arizona still bubbles oil.
