There are two types of plants that grow from seeds. These are: 1.) Gymnosperms 2.) Angiosperms SEED PLANTS
GYMNOSPERMS The seeds of a gymnosperm are not protected by a fruit. They do not produce flowers. Most have leaves that are needles or scalelike. Most are evergreen (do not lose leaves all at once.) The most common type of gymnosperms are conifers. Conifers include pines, firs and spruces.
Examples of conifers
The cones of conifers contain the seeds.
Angiosperms are flowering plants. After reproduction, the flowers produce seeds which are enclosed inside a fruit.
Anything that grows on a plant that contains seeds is a fruit.
The world’s largest seed!
Angiosperms can be divided into two groups based on their characteristics: 1.) Monocots 2.) Dicots * SEE HANDOUT
