Frogs popular pets, but since they are amphibians their requirements differ from that of the common aquarium inhabitants. Some frogs spend most of their time in water, while others a mostly land dwellers. Always investigate the natural habitat and living conditions for your frog or turtle before your bring it home. It is also important to remember that many species will grow quite large and might outgrow their first home. Many frogs live in the tropics some live in mashes like the American bull frog and the one above the one below is a tropic Best living environment for frogs

Worlds smallest and biggest frog  The smallest frog known today is the Brazilian Psyllophryne Didactyla, which is commonly referred to as the Gold Frog. It can be found in the Southern Hemisphere mainly in Brazil  The biggest kind of frog is the Goliath frog (Conraua goliath). They come from Cameroon in West Africa. Their bodies can reach the size of nearly a foot (30 cm) long.(remember: their legs are also AT LEAST that long!!!!)

A rare frog Rana okaloosae is a rare species of frog found only in western FloridaFlorida This species ranges from mm in length, with the female generally being the larger of the sexes. They have no spots on their dorsal surface and unlike other members of the genus Rana they lack webbing between some of their toes. They are dark green with a yellow throat and a black underbelly. Tadpoles are brown with dark spots on the tail and light spots on the ventral surface Rana  Rana okaloosae

FROGSS

A frogs diet  There are many species of frogs, found all over the world except in Antarctica. What do frogs eat? Frogs are carnivorous, which means they eat other animals. Small frogs eat insects, worms and snails. Some species eat small fish. Larger frog species eat small reptiles and mammals, like mice and lizards. Frogs do not chew, so all of their prey is swallowed whole.insects  Certain frog species have a long sticky tongue that they use to catch flying insects. It is amazing how quickly they do this. The entire process of the tongue unrolling, catching the fly and then rolling back into the mouth takes less than a second. Frogs that do not have tongues use their fingers to put food into their mouths.

Frog population There are approximately 4740 species of frogs around the entire world. There are about 90 species of frogs in the United States. Unfortunately about 120 amphibian species, including frogs, toads and salamanders, have disappeared since Historically one species of amphibian disappears every 250 years.  This is the areas where frogs live

Did you know…………  Frogs don't need to drink the way we do: they absorb water through their permeable skin.  The world's tiniest frogs are smaller than a dime, and the largest frog can grow to be longer than a foot and weigh more than 7 pounds.  Nearly one-third (32 %) of the world's amphibian species are known to be threatened or extinct. At least 42 % of all species are declining in population, indicating that the number of threatened species can be expected to rise in the future

Here are a few frog predators snakes turtles terrestrial and aquatic lizards crocodiles people (us) terrestrial mammals such as hedgehogs and raccoons some carnivorous, aquatic mammals such as water shrews fish diving birds, water birds and birds of prey (e.g. hawks, kites, eagles) cane toads Frog predators
