Photographic Philosophy "For me, photography is about exploration, adventure, and illuminating, capturing and showcasing an ordered and complex chaos. Even in close-ups, it's about finding the deeper, detailed structure of the world. All of this is done while allowing composition to dictate the successful photograph...and falling prey to the intensity of an occasionally unavoidable, irresistible color palette. I create by interpreting and capturing elements of my surroundings from an artistic, unique perspective. I try to see things as no one else sees them, and try to say something through selection and composition.”

Common Elements Ordered chaos – repetition, paths (veering right). Relaxing, calming and sparse LANDSCAPES, complex and energetic CITYSCAPES, and architectural details. Seek out nature in the city. Ambiguous people that further an idea or composition. Black and White grain. I shoot in color only if a composition demands it by being overwhelmingly vivid in color. Compositional strength and complexity. Dry humor. Usually and ideally taken unobserved.

my style has changed… and gained definition?

Early Chicago Cityscapes...

Even since a trip last summer…

Changes in my style: More use of color More detail-driven images incorporated into collections with landscapes Slowly incorporating more images of people into shots…making the photo about them Digital process – quicker processing and feels more professional. I feel that I can find and capture the composition, the shots I want quicker.
