GUIDING THOUGHT As you read this article, think about what it means to be a professional and what implications this may have on your own practices.

PLC OVERVIEW  Find your PLC Team Members and answer the following question in a round robin format:  Based on what you’ve read and what you know, why do we have PLCs?

PLC OVERVIEW Richard DuFour, EdD, was a public school educator for 34 years. A prolific author and sought-after consultant, he is recognized as one of the leading authorities on helping school practitioners implement the Professional Learning Communities at Work™ process. Link to short video (4 minutes) of him explaining importance of PLC work (stop at 2:23)

PLC GROUPS  Identify Group Members  We need to know the location of your meetings  Structure for each week  PLC meetings:  Monday, as a whole group  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, in your smaller groups  PLC Attendance and Reflection Log  Must be submitted every two weeks to Telishus Cephers  Homework assignment  Between today and Monday, take a tour of each of your PLC Team Member’s classrooms and decide where your weekly meetings will take place.  Be prepared to introduce each of your team members for Monday:  Name, what they teach, something interesting from their classroom (classroom layout, posters, groupings, etc.)
