Super Hero Databases Lesson 1

Lesson 1 Aims… To know what a database is. To understand why databases are used. To be able to identify different types of databases. To be able to use keywords and terminology correctly.

Activity 1 - Databases Using the ‘What is a database’ presentation on the P:/ drive Using the ‘What is a database’ presentation on the P:/ drive – Answer the questions on the worksheet. P:/ICT/Year7/ Databases/Super Heros Located at P:/ICT/Year7/ Databases/Super Heros

Activity 2 – Creating Super Heroes Using the website : Using the website : – Create 10 different Superheros Male and Female Male and Female Different appearances Different appearances – Hair, clothes, eyes, skin colour, accessories etc

Activity 2 – Creating a Super Hero Use studio.de to create your 1 st Super Herowww.sp- studio.de Use the menu to select different items to make your Super Hero UNIQUE

Activity 2 – Creating a Super Hero Select suitable items: – Place – Hat – Hair – Eyes – Skin – Stuff (accessories) – Shirt – Hands – Legs – Mouth

Activity 3 – Saving a Super Hero Use the ‘Print Screen’ button on your keyboard to ‘copy’ your 1 st Super Hero. ‘Paste’ the Super Hero into ‘Adobe Fireworks CS4’. F12 Next to F12 Button

Activity 3 – Saving a Super Hero Use the ‘crop’ tool to select your Super Hero. Press the ‘enter’ button to create selection
