Everyday life in London

London, as a capital of one of the most attractive countries in the world, is a dream and a nightmare. Everyday life looks there as life in other big cities, but has it's speciality.

First of all, english weather. It's grey and rainy almost everyday, no matter if it's autumn or summer. In a big city you can feel it twice, because of high buildings, streets and cars, which don't leave much space for plants. When you see the sun in London, you're leaving everything, calling your friends and going for a walk to the Central Park. Or traveling to the edge of the city, where are a lot of green, friendly places, where you can sit in sunbeam and have a cold beer.

Every part of London looks different. There're luxury parts and places, where you wouldn't like to be lost at night, like east end of the city. This place is called "the east London slums" not without any reason. When you live in your neighbourhood, you probably won't see this place. You can never notice that it exists, as many other parts; London is too big to know every region. But there are places that aren't perfect and we can hardly believe that these are parts of London, the dream city.

You can meet every kind of people there. Asians, Europeans, Americans. If you feel like going to Asia, you can travel by metro to China Town, where you can feel the oriental atmosphere, eat some original chineese food and buy some souvenires. London people are very tolerant. On every street you can see thousands of people coming from many other countries, having many different religions and culture. Nobody is suprised by seeing Negro, tall, ginger, muslim, homosexual, midget, Asian or any other people, so everone can feel there really well and free with their commons.

Traveling is that part of life that you can't skip or run away from. You can't get almost anywhere without using a car, bus or subway. Lunch break at work has to be long enough to drive to the place, where you can eat something. If you need to go to the post, department or chemist's, you have to travel, so it's not like making those things ready in smaller towns. Of course, the goverment does everything to make these things easier, there are divisions of most organisations in every part of the city, but it means only that your trip will take twenty minutes, not three hours. No one in London can imagine life without a car or TFL (Transport For London) ticket.

Do you eat healthy? No? In London you'll start. In big cities people don't have much time to think about their diet, so they eat lots of fast food and other junk food. UK's capital is different. The pro-eco fashion is everywhere. It tells you that if you want to be healthy and feel good, you must eat five portions of fruit or vegetables during the day. Media, shops, restaurants, magazines... Everithing's reminding you about it. Fish and chips? Yes, but only with salad. And remember, TFL ticket doesn't mean that you can't walk at all.

Many people identify London with bussinessmans in grey suits, whose life's a race for rats. There are people like this, but not only. London is a place, where you can find a really good job and earn good money, so a lot of people come there to wear grey suits and carry a case. But also there's an art everywhere. On every corner you can hear musicians and see some good street art. People in London loves fashion too. No one dress like british people, they have their own sense of style, altrough they seem quite untidy.
