This includes the internationally recognised full time three year, level 6 Diploma in Glass Design and Production, and the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts programme majoring in Glass. Typically the classes are made up of students who have recently left school as well as people looking to take up a second career.

Job prospects for graduates The Glass Design & Production course produces lateral and creative thinking graduates who are well versed in design/marketing and managing a small business. These are desirable attributes to today’s employers. As well as a self-employed glass artist, or employed craftsperson working in professional studio, graduates are equipped to work as designers in other business sectors outside of glass art. Glass art The most preferred job prospect available to graduating students is owning a small business. This option can have relatively low overheads, by renting glass making and finishing equipment at the Wanganui Glass School or other established glass businesses.

Students work in hot, warm and cold glass techniques including glassblowing, casting, fusing, slumping, sand casting, painted glass, mixed-media sculpture, and engraving.
