Culture in Texas When you hear of 6 Flags, do you think of the Amusement Park? Did you know that there were 6 Countries that ruled in Texas? Their Cultures are still embedded in our society. Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, USA, and the Confederacy were the 6 Flags that Flew over Texas. There are different Cultures of Texas, but we are going to focus on Spain, France, Mexico, German and Irish.

 We all come from different Cultures. Each of us is as different as the next.  Native American- There are different types of Native American’s and each different tribe has a different culture. There are also places in America where one state, or even one county will have a different a culture. Can you think of any?

Our Culture is based off of Cultures in the past. If we take a look back what could we see? In European Countries there were Knights, Kings, Villages, and Wars between Land. In Asia there were Emperors, Samurai, Sword fights, and people running parts of the town by force. In Africa there were tribal lords, warriors, and people riding Elephants. Even in Ancient America there was a whole new life. Can you imagine no electronics, no internet, and no cars? How would that effect our society today?

Reflections  What have you learned about Culture?  Did you learn anything about your culture?  Culture is a very important part of our world, with out our individual Culture we would all be the same.  Could you imagine us all being the same?

What you are going to do.  Your group will be assigned a particular Culture group.  You will then research the group and create a Power Point to present to the class.  The slides must be creative, have pictures from the internet, have 5 links to your sites that you found the information on, and there must be more than 8 slides.  You will also bring in a food item from that culture and we will have a Culture Party.
