Introduction Are you ready to learn about birds and bats? Have you ever wondered where bats live? What bats eat? How they get around in the dark? Let’s work together and find out the answers to our questions…

Task Find out as many bat and bird facts as you can by using books and the internet. Write down all your new facts on the data sheet the teacher gives to you. Make a Venn Diagram that shows how birds and bats are alike and how they are different.

Step 1 Let’s find out where bats live! Click on the bats below to find out

Step 2 Let’s find out what bats eat! Click on the bat below to find out

Step 3 Let’s find out how bats get around in the dark! Click on the bat below to find out

Step 4 Let’s find out what makes birds and bats different from each other

Let’s make a Venn Diagram With all of the facts you have collected on your data sheet, click on the link below to make your very own Venn Diagram Ask Ms Wilson or Ms Whitt how to get started making your Venn Diagram

Resources Websites used: Books used: Bats by Gail Gibbons Stellaluna by Janell Cannon

Evaluation Ask yourself these questions before turning in your work: Do I have all of my data sheet filled in? Do I have 3 unique bird facts in my Venn Diagram? Do I have 3 unique bat facts in my Venn Diagram? Do I have 3 ways birds and bats are similar in my Venn Diagram? Am I proud of the work I have done? If you have answered “yes” to all of these questions, you can print out your Venn Diagram and turn it in to Ms. Whitt or Ms. Wilson. If some of your answers were “no”, go back to your work and make some changes.

Rubric Once your Venn Diagram is turned in, this is how it will be graded All of your data sheet is filled in 3 unique bird facts 3 unique bat facts 3 facts that are the same for bats and birds Most of your data sheet is filled in 2 unique bird facts 2 unique bat facts 2 facts that are the same for bats and birds Some of your data sheet is filled in 1 unique bird fact 1 unique bat fact 1 fact that is the same for bats and birds Little to no work has been done on data sheet and Venn Diagram
