With an estimated population of 127,360,000 in 2010, Japan is the 36 th most densely populated country in the world with 837 people per miles squared About 84% - 96% of the population practice Buddhism or Shintoism. The main reason for Japan’s outrage on the US was that they had stopped shipment to Asia, which impacted Japan’s military and their secret plans to attack the UK, the Netherlands, and the US. When the atomic bomb called “little boy” was dropped onto Hiroshima, the main military base in Tokyo was unable to contact the base in Hiroshima for a long while. After exhausting their resources, they sent a young soldier out to survey the damage on the city and report back with accurate information. The Tokyo military base really believed that it was only rumors. Tokyo’s first knowledge of the bombing came from a White House public announcement in Washington approximately 16 hours after the bombing took place. In 1945, an estimated number of 60,000 people died from nuclear fallout sickness. This does not include casualties from radiation exposure.
