1.The Difference between Praise & Worship 2.Why do we Worship God…? 3.How do we Worship ?? 4.Prophetic Worship Prophetic Worship !!! 1

The Difference between Praise & Worship ??? 1.These 2 are very intertwined – and is hard to give a clear description of each 2.To Praise God – is like Thanking Him for what He has DONE !!! Like Giving a Testimony of His Goodness in your Life – in order to uplift others in their Faith in God 3.Worship God – Thanking & Admiring Him for Who He IS !!! This is more talking to God Directly / Personally – through Prayer, Singing, Citations, but it also includes your Giving and Normal daily living etc… Recognizing His GLORY & Majesty !!! 4.Hebrew & Greek Definitions of Praise & Worship:  PRAISE in HEBREW has 3 Meanings: I.Halal - The root word from which the word HALLELUJAH is formed – Meaning all must praise YAH (short for Yahweh) – To BOAST About (the Virtues, Glories and Honor) of Someone or something with Words & Singing, Thanking, Rejoicing (1 Chron 23:30) II.Tehillah - Celebration & Exaltation – like a Psalm or a song specifically (Ps 100:4, Ps 145, Ps 150) For interesting sake – the book Psalms – in Hebrew = Tehillim (plural of Tehilla) – Literally Meaning the Book of PRAISES !!! It can be used for singing, meditation or recitation !! Psalms provide the means for an eager heart to express praises to the Holy One III.Shabach – 2-fold meaning: (Ps 63:3) To Glory in, Praise, Adore Bringing someone to be still and calm, to Sooth (indication of Wisdom, Maturity, building Faith) (Ps 65:7, Ps 89:9, Prov 29:11) Practical Example of Calming someone…: Ps 46 – especially verses  PRAISE : GREEK: I.Epainos – Recognition of God’s Glory (iow: Recognizing of Who He IS and what He has done and can do etc…), commendation, praise (Eph 1:6, 12 & 14, Phil 1:11 & 4:8) Prophetic Worship !!! 2

What does it mean to Praise & Worship God !!! (continue..):  WORSHIP: HEBREW I.Shachah – stoop as an act of submission, bow down before, reverence, to make yourself low (Ps 99:5) - in contrast with exaltation of oneself, you choose to Exalt God and lift Him up High – and you being at the place of His Feet – totally depending on Him !!! 1 Kings 8:22 – King Solomon’s prayer to Dedicate the Temple he built for God To be Lifted up: Joh 8:28 & 3:14, Luk 18:13, Jam 4:10 Through worship – you will become strong & Overcome your Enemy : 2 Chron 20, Isa 40 Lev 19:13 – Reverence for His Sanctuary, Ps89:7, Ps 77:13, Ps73:17, Ps63:2, Ps96:6, etc. Isa 11:2-3 – Fear of the Lord ( Respect and Admiration ) – Is the beginning of wisdom, Job 28:28, Ps 111:10, Prov 1:7, Prov 2:1-7, Prov 8:13, Prov 9:10, Prov 15:16&33, Ps 19:9, Ps34:11-16, etc…. Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He IS (exists), and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. II.Hosanna – An exclamation of Adoration & a Request for Salvation – Mat 21:9&15, Joh 12:13  WORSHIP – GREEK I.Proskuneo – Prostrate, bow down completely ( Rev 4:10-11 ) – 2-fold word: Pros – Toward Kuneo – Kiss (symbolism: like a dog licking his master’s hand) Do obedience, show reverence, adore… Like in the Times of the Kings, people would fall down before the King & Kiss His Ring… (eg 2 Sam 9:6, 1 Kings1:31, Est 3:2&5, Est 5:2 – the Scepter – See Heb 1:8 – The Scepter of the Kingdom of God is Righteousness ) Prophetic Worship !!! 3

Why do we Worship ?? 1.John 4:22-24 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. 2.THUS: Worship is To Lift up And Appreciate the ONE we Worship !! 3.Worship – is to Bring Glory to God – and asking/seeking to see God’s Glory – like Moses did – Exo Jesus said in the Book of John twice – that the Son of Man must be lifted up – indicating Prophetically – first the Crucifixion – but also today – if we Lift Up His Name it is seen by God as worshipping Him: 5.Joh 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 6.Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 7.Exo 33:18 ESV Moses said, "Please show me your glory." 8.Exo 33:19 ESV And he said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name 'The LORD.' And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 9.Exo 34:5-7 The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation." 10.Exo 34:8-9a And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. And he said, "If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us,…. 11.THUS: Worshipping - It’s all about Jesus, the Father & the Holy Spirit – and them alone – lifting them up in a Glorious Position – In Exaltation & Honor 12.It must become a lifestyle, not just singing the 30 minutes odd in the beginning of a Church Service… 13.Ps 22:3 – God Inhabits the Praises of His People… 14.Also through Worship – The Gifts – like the Prophetic & Healing - normally Flows much easier too THUS: To Worship God is to Truly LIVE in His Spirit !! Prophetic Worship !!! 4

How do we Worship ?? 1.John 4:22-24 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth 2.Worship is to Ask for God Himself – to make His Presence Known – that we desire Him more than His Gifts and the Miracles and Wonders etc that He performs for us, in us and through us..etc… 3.NOTE: Worship isn’t just singing…Singing is just a very small portion of Worship, as we can’t all talk together, but we can all sing together… 4.Meaning: Worshipping God must be evident through our everyday conversations, telling people about God’s Greatness & Goodness etc. – without actually having to say “God is Good” or “God is Great” in every sentence, etc !! (‘cause saying it all the time will become religious eventually, and will loose all its power and effectiveness and rather push people away instead of uplifting them and drawing them closer to God etc..) 5.Through our daily conversations I mean: when I meet someone, I must show the LOVE of God to people, and that I truly care about them, have compassion for them, not being a two-face/hypocrite etc.. It must come from the inside – shining forth through our voices, and sincere smile…(Maturity…walking in Righteousness & Truth – Living like a Heavenly Kingdom Minded Person) 6.A good example in the Bible is the Fruit of the Holy Sprit – mentioned in Gal 5:22-23 – must be evident in our lives. This is a good sign of a life of Worship !! 7.Meaning - The way we live: at work, in business, at home, our finances, the things we buy, eat, and everything we say & do must become worship unto God (a sweet Fragrance) – because we adore Him & Respect Him, and choose His Love & His desires above our selfish desires… 8.Tithing & Offerings to God - for example shouldn’t be done out of Law – but rather out of a Thankful & Worshipping Heart – of Who God is – and that He Reigns and deserves only the best (Mal 1:13) 9.Phil 4:18-19 – Their Giving was like a sweet and Acceptable Fragrance to God – well pleasing – and therefore Paul prayed and declared that their every need will be met because of this…and not the other way around… Prophetic Worship !!! 5

What is Prophetic Worship ?? 1.As we’ve explained before – the Word Prophetic means: To “Tell Forth” 2.Meaning – through our worshipping, we “TELL” or “SHOW” what we’re Saying, Seeing or Feeling through our singing and actions, etc…  Eg If we see a vision – then we want to act it out – by saying it, explaining it, or dancing it, etc… 3.THUS: A reason for lifting our hands while we’re singing – This act proclaims that we are saying in effect – Father God, Jesus, I lift up Your Name – I exalt you – I praise You, I worship You, I adore You, I surrender to You…etc…etc… 4.It is such a liberating gesture – by doing it – God sees your Heart, and reaches out to you as well…  It is like a child reaching up his arms to his parents saying “Pick me up”, and then Father comes running to you, and lifts you up, high upon His shoulders so you can see much further than what you were able to see before…!!! 5.Thus Prophetic Dances are so popular – as it “tells” a story of our faith”, and our relationship with God, and our heart towards Him…etc…making use of colors, flags, and any other equipment necessary to tell the story !!! 6.Hos 12:10b AMP - …Prophets ACTED OUT the Parables (visions that they saw – to bring the messages to the people) 7.Another gesture, is to go on your knees, or to bow down completely (called Worshipping in the Hebrew – Laying prostrate) – like before a King…meaning you are making yourself low before God, admitting that He is King, and you are humble enough to admit it.  ‘Cause by standing firm, and refusing to bow, for example, because of feeling embarrassed, is showing to God, that you are more concerned about what other people are going to think or say, than what you truly care about God, and His heart and your respect and love for Him… 8.Meaning – our body language also says of who and what we really think in our hearts about God – and not just our Words… 9.‘Cause - If you can BOW before God, then you can truly STAND before man…!! Prophetic Worship !!! 6

What is Prophetic Worship ?? (continued…) 1.Also – Music plays a huge role in Prophetic Worshipping… 2.It helps to set an atmosphere (to prepare the Spirit Realm) – which brings God’s Glory into a specific place, which makes it easier for people to Hear God and even see and experience God… 3.Eg: 2 Kings 3: Elisha wanting to Prophecy on Request of Jehoshaphat (King of Judah) – but seeing the King of Israel in the room as well, it disturbed him so – that he asked for a minstrel to come and play. (Minstrel meaning – someone who is heart and soul into playing for God on a stringed instrument.) 4.Another Example is 2 Chron 20 – where Jehoshaphat went into battle with the people going out singing and praising God believing that God would fight on their behalf – based on a prophetic Word they have received (verses 14-17) – And God smote the armies of the enemy before them – without Jehoshaphat having to lift a finger to fight in the battle !!! 5.1 Sam 16:14-23 – King Saul, every time he got distressed, they called David to come and play for the King. This helped Saul to calm down again and become refreshed… 6.1Sam 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. 7.Also go and read the whole book of Habakkuk – where he first had difficulty praising God – but once had seen a vision and understood How Great God is, and what He WILL do, and what the end will be of those that were standing against him – he could truly praise God with Joy and Dance 8.Hab 3:17-18 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 9.Hab 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. ***** A M E N ***** Prophetic Worship !!! 7
