What is Work It! Louisiana? Work It! Louisiana is an awareness campaign designed to educate students & parents on technical education, career paths and job opportunities in Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary and Assumption Parishes… And most recently the River Parishes of St. John, St. James, & St Charles would like to participate.

The Task Force The Task Force was expanded to include: a. Industrial Business Leaders b. Educators from the Technical Colleges c. Educators from the Secondary School System d. Representatives of Nicholls State University

The School Process 1.School Champions – 6 thru 12 2.Speakers Bureau 3.Career videos for classrooms 4.Classroom posters 5.School newsletter/website information 6.Career guidance through AWARE workshops for champions 7. Technical education brochure for educators & students (also to be mailed to graduating seniors).

The Poster & Billboard Concept

Parent and student awareness programs in conjunction with the technical high schools, colleges, university programs and businesses. Designed to educate student groups on the value, need & benefit of a technical education as it relates to the workforce.

Terrebonne Technical High School LA Technical College – Lafourche Campus Fletcher Technical & Community College LA Technical College – Young Memorial Assumption 8 th grade Career Fair

1.A “One-Stop Shop” that included 15 businesses, technical instructors, education requirements and financial aid. 2.Provided several hands-on simulation programs for student participation. 3.Over 100 students, plus parents attended event.

NSU Program 1.A program designed to inform university denials and drop outs with alternate career options through technical education at the university & technical colleges. 2. Provide a comprehensive brochure on the alternatives. 3. Look to additional methods of follow up.

Media programs will be coordinated with the school campaign 1.Cable television 2.Media outreach programs 3.Radio outreach and promotion 4.Regional billboards 5.Interactive Website Media Campaign
