WHAT’S THE POINT? Ambitions 2014 is designed to help you think about the connections between school and work and the choices you are going to make about what courses to do in Years 10 and 11

HOW WILL THE EVENT WORK? ALL YEAR 9 STUDENTS IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE WILL… spend 2½ hours at UWE Exhibition Centre take part in 5 different interactive workshops make workshop choices in advance

THERE WILL BE 33 DIFFERENT EMPLOYMENT SECTORS AT THE AMBITIONS EVENT

HOW WILL YOU CHOOSE WHAT WORKSHOPS TO DO? You will take part in some ACTIVITIES to get ready for the Ambitions event and find out about the different employment sectors so that you can make good workshop choices

HOW WILL YOU CHOOSE WHAT WORKSHOPS TO DO? You will complete a CHOICES FORM and choose 5 different employment sectors in which you are interested

COMPLETING THE WORKSHOP CHOICES FORMS The front page provides written information about the event for you and your parents

You will need to get permission forms signed - your workshop choices won’t count unless the form is signed AMBITIONS FORMS

COMPLETING AMBITIONS FORMS Read ALL the information provided ASK your teacher about anything you don’t understand Carefully SELECT 5 different employment sectors Complete your personal DETAILS Get the form SIGNED by your parent - it’s not valid otherwise Make sure that the completed form is returned by the DEADLINE you have been given

EVENING EVENT

All South Gloucestershire students in Years 7 to 13 and their parents are being invited to attend the AMBITIONS EVENING EVENT that takes place at UWE between 4.30 and 8.00 pm on TUESDAY 21 OCTOBER

THIS WILL BE A CHANCE TO… Speak to representatives of more than 120 different employers, universities, colleges, apprenticeship training providers and voluntary organisations and take part in skills HAVE-A-GO activities

THIS WILL BE A CHANCE TO… Talk to careers experts in the Ambitions CAREERS GUIDANCE CENTRE about your options for the future

You and your parents will be provided with MORE DETAILED INFORMATION about the Ambitions 2014 Evening Event nearer the date
