Human Resources4 Part time Academic Group Part-time Academic  Teaching up to and including six hours/week  Rate is determined by hiring manager  No restrictions on hiring

Human Resources5 Part time Academic Group Regular Partial Load Academic  Teaching more than 6 and up to 12 hours inclusive for more than 7 weeks (Effective May 1, 2010)  Placed on salary grid as per the Academic Collective Agreement  Partial Load calculation sheet must be completed  Pay union dues  Eligible for benefits and prorated sick leave benefits

Human Resources6 Part time Academic Group Assignments outside Partial Load status  Subsequent authorizations for more than 12 hours  If < than 3 weeks, retains Partial Load status and benefits.  If > than 3 weeks, loses Partial Load status and benefits and becomes Sessional.  Must replace a full time professor/instructor for unplanned absences  Appendix V of the Academic Collective Agreement

Human Resources8 Part time Academic Group Short Term Partial Load  Teaching more than 6 and up to 12 hours inclusive for less or equal to 7 weeks (Effective May 1, 2010)  Pay rate is determined by hiring manager  Not eligible for benefits  Do not pay union dues  Must be a break of two weeks in order to retain Short Term Partial Load status

Human Resources9 Part time Academic Group Sessional Academic  Normally hired to replace a full time professor/instructor  Pay rate may either be weekly or hourly and is determined by hiring manager  Limit of 10 months in a 24 month period

Human Resources10 Part time Academic Group Sessional Academic – Monitoring  After 10 months, must work 6 hours/week until time begins to drop  If it exceeds 10 months, it requires special permission from HR. HR will not approve beyond 11 months  As per section 2.03 B of the Academic Collective Agreement, once an employee has reached the 10 month limit, the employee cannot have a subsequent Partial Load authorization  Non-teaching, Coordinating, and sick leave replacement for up to 14 days do not affect sessional count.

Human Resources11 Part time Academic Group Monitoring  February 2005 =.50  March 2005 = 1.00  April 2005 = 1.00  August 2005 =.25  September 2005 = 1.00  October 2005 = 1.00  November 2005 = 1.00  December 2005 =.25  January 2006 = 1.00  February 2006 = 1.00  March 2006 = 1.00  April 2006 = 1.00 As of April 2006 he has accumulated 10 months, therefore, must be restricted to 6 hours/week until time begins to drop in February 2007

Human Resources14 Part time Administrative Staff  Only Human Resources may approve authorizations  Job description should accompany authorization to be evaluated by HR, once a payband has been determined and approved by the hiring manager, HR will approve on the system

Human Resources15 Part time Support Staff 4 Categories:  Part Time Support Staff (> 24 hrs./wk)  Part Time Support Staff (< 24 hrs./wk)  Appendix D  Projects of a Non-Recurring Kind

Human Resources16 Part time Support Staff Part time Support Staff (over 24 hrs./wk)  Paid hourly according to Part Time support rates  A Job Fact Sheet (JFS) should be created for any OTF support assignments  Limit of 21 weeks in a 12 month period  After 21 weeks, must work 24 hours or less per week  Projects of Non-Recurring kind do not affect the counting of full time weeks  If placing in a project of a non-recurring kind, an outline of the project must be sent to HR and upon approval, HR will approve such authorization

Human Resources17 Part time Support Staff Monitoring  February 2005 = 3 wks.  March 2005 = 2 wks.  April 2005 = 4 wks.  August 2005 = 5 wks.  September 2005 = 5 wks.  October 2005 = 2 wks. Human Resources18 Other than full time Support Staff Appendix D  OTF employees replacing a bargaining unit member for a minimum of one day  Replacing employees are paid in the same wage scale of full time employee classification  Must pay union dues  Paid an additional 8% in lieu of vacation and fringe benefits  Does not affect the accumulation of regular full time weeks for temporary support staff (21 weeks limit)  Entitled to overtime, shift premium and statutory holidays

Part time Support Staff Projects of a Non-Recurring Kind These are assignments excluded from the bargaining unit and are for projects not performed on a regular basis in the College. Only for a period of 12 months only, unless an extension is agreed upon in writing between the Local Union and the College. An outline of the project must be sent to HR and along with a JFS and upon approval and evaluation, HR will then approve the authorization. Human Resources19

Human Resources21 Students Appendix G  Any student working in the college between May 1 and August 31 and working more than 24 hrs./week  Must be paid at least the current Ontario minimum wage ($10.25 effective March 31, 2010)  Pay union dues  Entitled to overtime statutory holidays and shift premium

Human Resources22 Students College Student Employment Program (CSEP)  Must be actively registered student in the college  Student’s Association is the employer  Must work in an environment similar to the student’s program

Human Resources23 Students International Students  HR will enter all International Students and assign an employee number  A copy of their visa or work permit is required  HR will approve all authorizations for International Students
