Conclusion Immobility and critical illness can affect every organ system, leading to significant functional impairments. These impairments, both physical and psychological, can be long lasting. Early intervention in the ICU is safe and feasible, and may prove to prevent the risk of ICU-acquired impairments and disabilities.
