Young Readers/8th Lesson Plans Teachers: Van Syoc

Unit TEKS: (RS/SS) (2) Vocabulary Development. Understand new vocabulary and use it when reading and writing. (7) Nonfiction. Understand, make inferences and draw conclusions about the varied structural patterns and features of literary nonfiction and provide evidence from text to support their understanding. Students are expected to analyze passages in well-known speeches for the author's use of literary devices and word and phrase choice (e.g., aphorisms, epigraphs) to appeal to the audience. (14) Writing Process. Use elements of the writing process (planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing) to compose text. A) Plan first draft, B) develop drafts, C) Revise drafts, D) Edit drafts, and E) Revise final draft
