Zheng He

A CHINESE MUSLIM ADMIRAL who led 7 VOYAGES to VARIOUS CONTINENTS (Africa, Asia, and beyond…). Sailed with a LARGE FLEET (40 – 300 SHIPS). Some ships were 400 FEET LONG. The HIGH COST OF THE VOYAGES eventually brought their end.

Vasco da Gama

Explorer from PORTUGAL. First to sail AROUND THE SOUTHER TIP OF AFRICA and continue on to INDIA. The goods (SILK, SPICES, GEMS, etc…) was worth 60 TIMES what it cost to travel the 27,000 miles.

Christopher Columbus

LED “FIRST” VOYAGE TO THE AMERICAS in ESTABLISHED SPANISH CLAIM TO NEW WORLD. His success convinced KING FERDINAND & QUEEN ISABELLA to funder further expeditions in 1493, intending to CREATE COLONIES..

Ferdinand Magellan

FRENCH EXPLORER who sailed up the ST. LAWRENCE RIVER and ESTABLISHED QUEBEC. Later, it will be the base of France’s colonial empire, NEW FRANCE. He was known as the FATHER OF NEW FRANCE.
