2 Session Topics: 1. Clarify the difference between Microsoft Word document (.DOC) and Rich Text Format (.RTF) printing 2. Review the Management Plus report codes 3. Demonstrate how to create and customize templates 4. Learn how to change the default letters that Management Plus uses 5. Changing the saved location

3 1. DOC vs. RTF Files Difference between.DOC and.RTF file types Switching from.RTF to.DOC files –Setup > Preferences > Company Preferences > Defaults tab –Check ‘Use.doc templates’ option How each file type prints in Management Plus –.RTF templates stream to an.RPT file that can be viewed/printed through Management Plus –.DOC templates do not change file format –Users must have write-access to their ‘Temp’ directory for.DOC file printing

Management Plus Report Codes Document Printing Guide and Report Codes (.PDF) –Contains general information about the document printing process and a list of all available report codes Update: Report code list now contains information about where the data is pulled from for each code Some report codes can only be used in specific areas in Management Plus –Example: The lease start date report code (LSD) is not valid on Waiting List documents because the applicant has not moved in yet

5 3. Creating/Editing Custom Templates How to create a blank template –Microsoft Word for.DOC files –WordPad for.RTF files How to make changes to an existing template –Example: C:\mpw\UpdatedHUDForms- July2009\Model Lease For Subsidized Programs doc

6 4. Changing Default Letters Using the ‘yellow folder’ icon to select a new template Recertification Notices –Information > Contracts Edit > Subsidized Preferences tab > Notices tab Reports Menu (Mailings) –Pay or Quit Notices –Document Printing Processes –Certifications (Lease Addendum)

Changing Document Save Locations New feature in Management Plus allows each company to have files stored in a designated location –Setup > Preferences > Company Preferences > Path Overrides tab –Keeps backups, general reports, posting reports and letters/notices separate so they can be easily accessed Override Document Path –If checked, all letters and notices generated using.DOC and.RTF templates will be saved to the specified location
