Traveling through paintings in space An Exploration of Nebulae by Mr. Wilkinson

What is a Nebula? A Nebula is a interstellar collection of dust and gas which is being held together and compacted by gravity. A Nebula is a interstellar collection of dust and gas which is being held together and compacted by gravity. Nebulae are often thought of as the birthplace of stars or nurseries for galaxies. Nebulae are often thought of as the birthplace of stars or nurseries for galaxies. After long periods of time, gravity will compact the gas and dust in the Nebula to form new stars, planets, and galaxies. After long periods of time, gravity will compact the gas and dust in the Nebula to form new stars, planets, and galaxies. This Nebula is called NGC 604 and it is 2.7 million light-years away from Earth.

How Were They Discovered? It is believed that the ancient Mayan people discovered the first Nebula without the use of a telescope.
