Working with Gilbert Banywesize Nguduka, Celestin Mitabu, Director of the Rwanda Orphan Project, coordinated a TFT training in the DRC, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This training had been delayed several times due to war between rebel forces and the Congolese armies where there were UN Peacekeeping forces as well. Sometimes the bombs from this war would also land in Gisenyi, Rwanda.

The HEAL Africa hospital has 160 beds and provides general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology (including fistula repair), pediatrics, and internal medicine services. Heal Africa Hospital is recognized by USAID, IRC, UNICEF, and Engender- health. All of these agencies have invested in HEAL Africa staff, equipment and infrastructure. This training involved hospital staff, psychologists and the Heal Africa Hospital.

The training was covered by the National Radio who interviewed the trainer, Celestin Mitabu, Gilbert Banywesize Nguduka and other Congolese participants. When the Congolese were asked how TFT will help the Congo, they said the Congo has been at war for decades and has taken many lives and left many traumatized. TFT will help them to start healing.

He replied that Rwanda is a country which likes to help its neighbors. TFT is overcoming trauma in Rwanda and they would like to share this gift with the DRC, so they may start healing. Celestin Mitabu, as a Rwandan, was asked why he organized this training of TFT in the DRC.
