But they also require a lot of hard work.
Horse Facts Stock-type horses are an average of 1,200 pounds. This size horse would eat about 25 pounds of food a day.* The majority of this would be hay or grass. They drink 5 to 10 gallons of water a day. Horses usually live years, but the oldest horse was recorded to live to be 62 years old. Horses can see in every direction except directly in front of and directly behind them.
About Paint Horses Paint Horses were brought to America by Spanish Explorers. Paint Horses are a cherished part of Native American history. Paint Horses were once disliked because of their extra color. With the help of Rebecca Lockhart, Paint Horses have proven that they are just as great as any other breed of horse. 40,000 Paint Horses are registered per year with APHA. There are about 80,000 registered Paint Horses in Texas.
