© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.Cisco PublicPresentation_ID 2 Introduction to the 700 MHz band  The Federal Communications Commission established rules for operation in the 698 – 806MHz band (Referred to as the 700MHz band) for Wireless Communication Services as part of the conversion of then TV bands to Digital TV.  Band is currently occupied by TV channels  FCC goal for the reallocation included Part of the band made available for Commercial wireless access use. Part of the band made available for nationwide interoperable Public Safety broadband network

© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.Cisco PublicPresentation_ID 6 Part 27 Wireless  Portable devices 3W ERP  Technology : To be determined by carriers and license holders  Modulations : most likely based on ITU-R M 1452 including addition of WiMAX OFDMA TDD  Possible LTE other IMT Advanced technologies

© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.Cisco PublicPresentation_ID 7 Part 90 Wireless  Portable / handheld devices not to exceed 3W ERP  Narrow band 6.25KHz  Broadband (Most likely based on ITUR M-1457 and IMT Advanced proposals)

© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.Cisco PublicPresentation_ID 8 What is required by FCC  Develop HAC test procedure for 700 MHz band with n 2 year time frame.  Issues :  Frequency auction issues may delay rollout  Technology still being defined  Rollout of products for other bands may effect deployment

© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.Cisco PublicPresentation_ID 9 HAC issues need to be addressed for 700MHz  Test Antenna  Weighting Factor  Probe Calibration  Typical Value over dipole  Modulations to test with  Issues have been communicated to FCC, may require more then 2 years to complete
