 We represent the university commitment to providing an exciting live and learning environment.  Residence Life Staff:  Three full time Professionals Director of Residence Life Assistant Director of Residence Life Director of Student Life

 Student staff members who are responsible for building community.  Resident Assistants provide assistance and personal growth opportunities.  They offer social and educational programs throughout the year.

 Training starts two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall semester.  All RA’s are required to attend the two weeks of training.  Training is designed to help the RA’s prepare for any difficulties they may face while in the position.

 Training is also a time for the staff to bond and build relationships within the staff.  The professional Staff design and prepare the training sessions based on what they feel is needed to prepare the RA’s.

 Based on evaluations from previous years RA’s felt that two weeks was not enough time for all the material but do not want to spend any extra time on campus.  The returning RA’s felt that they were given repetitive information each year and not enough new material.  Professional staff were overwhelmed with training as well as preparations for the fall semester.

 Use online training to deliver general information to Ras during the semester that does not require face-to-face meetings.  Allow RA’s to interact with each other and professional staff to build a greater working relationship.  Both student staff and professional staff will feel more prepared for the semester.

 Online training will cover general information, allowing more details emphasized in face-to- face training.  Student Staff can review material at anytime during the school year and complete work at their own pace but still meeting required deadlines.
