Constellation Stories Create your own constellation (using your first or last name) following the directions on the grid paper. After you have created your constellation you will write a creative writing short story to explain your constellation. Use the stories we discussed for the constellations Orion, Ursa Major, Cygnus, Scorpius, and Cassiopeia as inspiration. Your story should have a beginning/middle/end, characters and setting. Your writing should be in proper paragraph form. Write your rough draft on the back of the constellation name chart. Your story should be no longer than one page of paper.

Write a creative short story describing your own personal constellation. Use inspiration from the stories we read in class to make your own. 4 Your paragraph is exceptionally well-written and creative. Your use of word choice is outstanding and your story flows very well (organization) 3 You include a description of what your constellation looks like You explain how your constellation ended up in the stars Your story has a beginning, middle and end – intro, climax/problem and solution to the problem Your story is unique and creative You have one hand-drawn, color illustration Your story is free of convention errors 2 Some of the above information is missing/incorrect/incomplete and there are several convention errors. Your paragraph is unorganized and the picture is not drawn neatly or colored. 1 The majority of the information is missing/incorrect/incomplete and there are many convention errors that interfere with the reading of your story. Your paragraph is unorganized and the picture missing/ not drawn neatly or colored.

Class story – What do you see in the stars?
