February: ADHD Awareness 20% of the world’s population is living with ADHD

What is ADHD? Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination. For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out of the normal range for a child's age and development. Most children with ADHD also have at least one other developmental or behavioral problem. They may also have a psychiatric problem, such as depression or bipolar disorder

SYMPTOMS Lack of attention (inattentiveness) Hyperactivity Impulsive behavior (impulsivity) Easily distracted Fidgeting with hands or feet or squirms in seat Interrupts or intrudes on others Do any of your students at your school display any of the symptoms listed above?

Statistics Percent of children 3-17 years of age ever diagnosed with ADHD is 8.7% 7% of children diagnosed will be medicated with prescription drugs and stimulants to assist with focus and well being
