INTRODUCTION Problem statement: Group 68 Existing shoe racks have limited storage capacity. Limited storage leads to the shoes becoming unorganized. Other problems such as disturbing view and unpleasant odors are caused by the storage of too many shoes in small space. Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

INTRODUCTION Objectives: Designing a shoe rack that’s : Cheap Eliminates problems of bad odor and disorganization. Stores many shoes without causing a mess. Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

INTRODUCTION Background Group 68 33% of the shoe owners have trouble finding the space to store all of their shoes collection. In order to solve the problem, shoe rack was invented as a storage unit designed to store shoes. There are various types of shoe rack designed based on the customer’s need such as under the bed shoe racks, over the door shoe racks, free standing shoe racks, hanging shoe racks and rotating shoe racks. Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

INTRODUCTION What’s a ‘3-in-1 Shurack’? Group 68 ‘3-in-1 ShuRack’ is a shoe rack which can make it easier for the user to get their shoes, energy saving, preventing the unpleasant smell inside the shoe rack and has a compartment to store things, a foldable chair for the ease of the user to put their shoes. METHODOLOGY In order to solve the entire problem discussed in the problem statement, the team came up with this design: Electronic compartment Accessories compartment Foldable chair Figure 5: Overall view for shoe rack. Door Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

The shoe rack was divided into three compartments : Description Electric Compartment Made so that all the electronic parts (motor, gear, humidifier, and fan) are put together in the same place. Which makes it easier to maintain. Rotating Compartment This compartment is where the rotating part of the shoe rack is placed, and the shoes are stored. Accessories Compartment This is where all socks and accessories are stored. It helps the user because it stores everything in one place Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS Material Selection Group 68 Material Function Wood Rotating compartment, rotating bar, chair. Perspex The entire shoe rack body Aluminum Frame around shoe rack, rotating wheels Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

Material Selection Group 68 Polymethyl Methacrylate (Perspex): Good impact strength. High service temperature. Low cost Aluminum: Cost effective Corrosion resistance Light weight Wood: Durable efficient Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS Group 68 In order to determine the best motor to be used for the shoe rack, the following formula is used: speed of rotation= 𝑀𝑜𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝑆𝑝𝑒𝑒𝑑 2𝜋𝑟 Where, 2πr = circumference of the wheel Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

Load on the bars carrying the shoes are calculated using the formula: Load on the chair is calculated using the formula: Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

Dehumidifier Rock salt was chosen for the dehumidifier. In order to absorb the moisture content of air in the shoe rack. Rock salt can be easily obtained and can even be made at home. Air inlet Rock salt Fan Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

Rate of saturation of rock salt can be calculated using the formula: Dehumidifier Rate of saturation of rock salt can be calculated using the formula: Group 68 Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS
