Background -France, July Last major German offensive -Goal: distract the French so Germany can attack Flanders later

Thesis The Allied powers were able to turn what was initially a German offensive battle into a successful attack on the Germans, turning the tide of the war in favor of the Allies and foreshadowing the Allies’ eventual victory.

Phase I -Germany attacks to divert the Allies from Flanders -French military successfully defends itself using fake trenches

Phase II -Allied power counterattack -U.S. provides assistance -Germany cancels plans to invade Flanders -Major use of tanks
