1 DoQuP standards for quality assurance of study programmes in partner countries Project strategic outcomes at Qafqaz University AZERBAIJAN Sannur Aliyev Adminstrative Coordinator Bishkek, 2015

2 Broad definition of quality assurance: ISO definition, for ‘ study programme quality assurance “ the activities (processes) in the framework of a quality management system aimed at ‘ensuring trust’ in meeting the standards /quality requirements to all interested parties ”.

3 Standards and Guidelines for QA in the European Higher Education Area The standards are in three parts covering: internal QA of Higher Education Institutions, external QA of higher education and QA of external QA agencies.

4 DoQuP approach to the definition of standards for quality assurance  the adoption of a management system for quality ;  the management of a documentation process.

5 Standard B Educational Process B1 - Definition of the requirements for SP entrance B2 - Design of the educational process B3 - Planning and development of the educational process B4 - Assessment of students’ learning and criteria for students’ studies progression

6 Quality Requirement B1 Requirements for SP entrance The SP should define requirements needed for the access to the SP adequate for a profitable participation of the students to the established educational activities, in particular of the first year course. Qafqaz University Clearly defines its terms and conditions for those who want to be able to access SP at university level. These are fulfilment of High School Education, taking Central Entrance Exam, English language skill proficiency.

7 Quality Requirement B2 Design of the educational process The SP should design a curriculum and characteristics of the modules consistent with the established learning outcomes. Qafqaz University Designing the curruculums and learning outcomes are main activities of our university and we define the contents of studies, typologies of educational activities (theoretical lessons, practical lessons, laboratories, projects, etc.) also in terms of number of hours/credits for each typology in advance.

8 Quality Requirement B3 Planning and development of the educational process The SP should plan the development of the educational process in such a way that students are able to achieve the programme learning outcomes according to a gradual process and activities coherent and coordinated with each other. Qafqaz University Contents and cohesion of SP have been modified according to the demands of public and private sector of Azerbaijan society. It perfectly matches the necessities of Government needs and business enviroment.

9 Quality Requirement B4 Assessment of students’ learning and criteria for students’ studies progression The SP should define assessment methods which guarantees a correct assessment of the students’ learning and control the adequacy of the assessment tests to the learning outcomes and the correctness of the evaluation of the students’ learning. Qafqaz University Also, has taken appropriate steps to assess the results of SP and other activates. Students progression evaluation are being carried out by relative faculties and then they present this report to Board of Directors. In addition, we receive feedbacks from the students via online questionarry. This gives us opportunity to measure the progress and find out our draw backs.
